Lok Sabha Elections 2024: PM Modi says Goa holds special place for him; slams Congress for 'Constitution forced on Goans' remark
Sancoale (Goa): Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged the people of Goa to vote for the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) as he needs two strong colleagues in the parliament from the state where his destiny was written.
Addressing a mega rally at South Goa’s Sancoale, Modi said, “Goa holds a special place for me. Whatever I am today, every turning point of my life has been scripted in Goa. My party took the decision to make me the PM here.”
He requested the people at the gathering to go to every household and convey his salutations. “Please go to every household and tell them that Modi ji has come and Modi ji has sent his namaskar.”
It was in Goa where he was declared as the Bharatiya Janata Party's prime ministerial candidate for the 2014 Lok Sabha elections during a public gathering.
When the BJP-led government opted to take bold measures to the put the economy back on growth trajectory, it selected Goa as the venue to unveil the economic reforms.
Attacking the Congress Modi said, "Fishermen have been always present—in the era of Lord Ram and also when the country got independence. But after independence, the Congress pushed the fishermen to oblivion. It is Modi who established a separate ministry for the fisheries department... We gave them a Kisan Credit card.”
Modi said Congress had exposed its hidden agenda once again with its remark that the “Constitution was forced on Goans”. This statement is a stark revelation that the Congress is only interested in vote bank and appeasement politics, he said.
On PM Modi's visit to Goa, CM Pramod Sawant said, “PM Modi has expressed how special Goa is for him... He is announcing guarantees and taking the state forward. I can assure you that the BJP will win both Lok Sabha seats from Goa.
“Only PM Modi is capable of giving a guarantee and the guarantee to fulfill the guarantee,” he added.
