'Congress' frustration': Amit Shah on his doctored clip showing he advocated abolition of reservations

New Delhi/IBNS: Union Home Minister Amit Shah has slammed the Congress over a doctored clip, which showed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) stalwart advocating abolition of reservations, media reports said.

Speaking to reporters in Assam, Shah on Tuesday said, "Their frustration and disappointment reached to such a level that they created and spread fake videos of me and other BJP leaders. The video was forwarded by Chief Ministers, state presidents and other leaders. I kept the original video in public and the truth has come out.

"The Congress leaders are now facing criminal offence. This action shows their frustration and disappointment."

"Eversince Rahul Gandhi took charge of Congress, he has worked to take the level of politics to new lows... I believe circulating fake videos to garner votes is condemnable and should not be practiced by a major party in national politics," Shah added.

The doctored video prompted the Union Home Ministry to file a complaint with the police.

In response to the complaint, police registered a First Information Report (FIR) on Sunday.

The country's ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has accused the Telangana Congress of altering Shah's remarks to misrepresent him.

On April 27, Malviya posted on X, ".@INCTelangana is spreading an edited video, which is completely fake and has the potential to cause large scale violence. Home Minister Amit Shah spoke about removing the unconstitutional reservation given to Muslims, on the basis of religion, after reducing share of SCs/STs and OBCs.

"This fake video has been posted by several Congress spokespersons, including likes of @asmatasleem13 and others. They must be prepared for legal consequences."

On Monday, the Delhi Police summoned Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy in connection with the case and asked him to appear before it in the national capital on May 1.

Meanwhile, the Assam Police arrested a 31-year-old, named Reetam Singh, in connection with the case.

Singh, the Congress' 'war-room coordinator' in Assam, was involved in making the video and circulating it, police said as reported by Hindustan Times.
