Bibhav Kumar's bail, if granted, will be a death threat for me and my family: Swati Maliwal to Delhi HC
New Delhi/IBNS: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Swati Maliwal on Monday opposed the bail plea of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's aide Bibhav Kumar, whom she has accused of assaulting her, media reports said.
Speaking in the Delhi High Court, Maliwal said Kumar's bail will put herself and her family in danger.
"I was beaten badly. AAP leaders are saying I am an agent of BJP. AAP has a huge machinery of social media trolls. If this man comes out, it will be a huge death threat on me and my family," said Maliwal as quoted by NDTV.
"The CM is roaming with the accused and taking him to Lucknow and other places. They have big machinery of trolls, all party leaders have been warned to stand against me.
"He's (Bibhav Kumar) not an ordinary person, he gets the facilities even ministers don't get. If he comes out, my life and my family's life would be in grave danger," she added.
Kumar's counsel has questioned the delay in Maliwal filing a police complaint.
"She did not file any complaint that day. She did it three days later. She was the DCW chief, she was well aware of her rights. If her rights were violated, she should have filed the complaint immediately. Why the delay of three days," the lawyer said as quoted by NDTV.
On Kumar's lawyer's allegation that Maliwal trespassed into the Chief Minister's residence, the AAP MP's counsel hit back saying, " If Swati was trespassing, why no 100 call was made? I am being escorted by the security themselves inside, then does it mean I barged in? Where is the question of trespass?"
Bibhav Kumar was arrested on May 18 in connection with the assault on Swati Maliwal at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence on May 13.
In the complaint, Maliwal narrated the sequence of events at the Chief Minister's residence where she was waiting in the drawing room to meet Kejriwal.
Maliwal wrote, "I was informed that he (Kejriwal) was present in the house and I was told to wait in the drawing room. I went into the drawing room and sat on the sofa and was waiting for the CM, when suddenly, the PS of the CM, Bibhav Kumar barged into the room.
"He started screaming at me without any provocation and even started abusing me. I was stunned…and I reacted by telling him to stop talking to me like this and to call the CM."
Maliwal added, "He slapped me seven to eight times at least while I continued screaming…In order to protect me, I pushed him away with my legs. At that time, he pounced on me, brutally dragged me and deliberately pulled my shirt up. My shirt buttons opened and my shirt flew up. I landed on the floor while hitting my head on the centre table…
"Bhbhav Kumar did not relent and attacked me by kicking me in my chest, stomach and pelvis areas with his leg… I was in extreme pain and kept asking him to stop… I repeatedly told him that I am having my periods and that he should please let go of me as I am in extreme pain."
