Rahul Gandhi escapes major accident as stage collapses during INDIA bloc's rally in Bihar
New Delhi/IBNS: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and other INDIA bloc leaders narrowly escaped a major accident when the stage set up for their campaign in Bihar, ahead of the final phase of the Lok Sabha elections, suddenly collapsed.
A video of the incident has been circulating on social media.
It shows the leaders standing on the stage, holding hands, just as they were about to address the public gathering. Suddenly, the stage collapsed, causing everyone to lose their balance and grab onto each other for a few moments.
Rahul, who was standing next to Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and Lalu Prasad’s daughter Misa Bharti, was seen holding her hand when the stage broke.
Despite the fright, both the leaders remained composed and even exchanged smiles with concerned security personnel who rushed to their aid.
The event took place in Paliganj, on the outskirts of Patna, and was organised to support Misa Bharti’s candidacy for the Patliputra Lok Sabha seat.
After the incident, the Congress leader continued with the rally, speaking to the crowd and expressing his support for Bharti’s campaign.
The Bharatiya Janata Party did not miss the opportunity to attack the INDIA alliance and said just like the stage collapse, the opposition bloc would meet the same fate.
Just like the stage collapsed hearing "Rahul Gandhi zindabaad", the ghamand of the entire Ghamandiya alliance will also collapse on 4th June! pic.twitter.com/1N78GGgKzO

At a campaign event in Bakhtiyarpur earlier in the day, the Congress leader said that Narendra Modi will not become prime minister again, as there is a clear wave of support for the INDIA bloc across the country.
He claimed that if the INDIA bloc is voted into power, they would scrap the Agnipath scheme for defence service recruitment and deposit Rs 8,500 into every woman’s account each month.
