Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina and Indian PM Narendra Modi vowed to achieve the Viksit Bharat 2047 and Smart Bangladesh 2041 during their recent conversation.

Hasina called Modi to congratulate him on the recent victory in the Indian general polls.

She was one of the first foreign leaders to call him following the poll victory.

In a statement, the Ministry of External Affairs said: "The two leaders pledged to continue working together to further deepen the historic and close ties under the renewed mandate towards achieving under the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 and Smart Bangladesh 2041."

"They acknowledged the significant improvements achieved in the lives of the people of both countries in the last decade and looked forward to further enhancing the transformative relationship across all domains that include economic and development partnership, energy security, connectivity including digital linkages and people-to-people contacts among others," the statement said.

Several top world leaders congratulated Modi on clinching victory in the Indian general polls which was held for over six weeks in a staggering seven phases.

Modi will be the second politician after Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru to become Prime Minister for the third consecutive term.

However, unlike his previous two terms, Modi this time requires the support of his allies to form government as the BJP stopped at 240, 32 short of the majority mark (272).

The TDP (16 seats), JDU (12 seats), Eknath Shinde faction of Shiv Sena (7 seats) and Chirag Paswan's Lok Janshakti Party-Ram Vilas (5 seats) have emerged as the kingmakers.
