Mumbai/IBNS: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar's wife Sunetra Pawar filed her nomination for a Rajya Sabha seat from Maharashtra as a candidate of Nationalist Congress Party or NCP.

Sunetra Pawar filed the nomination just days after she lost in the Lok Sabha polls from the Baramati constituency.

An X post by NCP reads, "On behalf of the NCP for the Rajya Sabha elections, Sunetra Pawar filed her candidature today in Vidhan Bhavan.

"On this occasion, the National Working President of the party Hon. eat Praful Patel, State President Hon. eat Sunil Tatkare, Senior Leader and Minister No. Chhagan Bhujbal, Deputy Speaker Hon. Dignitaries were present along with Narahari Ziraval."

Ten Rajya Sabha seats including two from Maharashtra are currently vacant.

In the recently concluded Lok Sabha polls, the BJP-NCP-Shiv Sena (Shinde's faction) suffered a jolt as the ruling coalition could win only 17 out of 48 seats.
