Uttarakhand: Overflowing seasonal river washes away vehicles in Haridwar
Haridwar: With the arrival of the monsoon in Uttarakhand, river water levels have risen dramatically, engulfing everything in the surrounding areas.
Following torrential rainfall in Haridwar, powerful currents from a seasonal river washed away several vehicles parked in a cremation ground.
Visuals from the scene show several cars and buses submerged in the overflowing Sukhi river at Har ki Pauri.

The strong currents swept away buses and eight cars that were parked in the cremation ground.
In a video, a cop can be heard issuing a warning to the pilgrims and people living in the area to refrain from going near the river.
"The water levels in the river have risen suddenly after the rainfall. Everyone is requested to not go near the river," he said.
According to media reports, the vehicles were parked on the river bed and were swept away by the raging current.
Seasonal rivers commonly overflow during monsoon in Uttarakhand.
The Sukhi river merges with the main flow of the Ganga a short distance downstream. The dry river bed is a popular parking spot for cars, often dry under normal conditions.
