New Delhi/IBNS: The Election Commission of India has issued notice to newly-elected Lok Sabha MP Sheikh Abdul Rashid, also known as Engineer Rashid, over the expenditure in the parliamentary elections, media reports said.

Rashid, who is under arrest on terror funding charges, has been served notice in connection with his expenditure in the Baramulla Lok Sabha constituency.

Rashid has been asked to respond within two days.

The notice highlighted that Rashid showed Rs. 2.10 lakh as the expense while the amount recorded in a shadow register maintained by the observers is Rs. 13.78 lakh, The Times of India reported.

Rashid was granted parole for 2 hours to take oath as the Lok Sabha MP on July 9.

Rashid, who won as an Independent candidate, was arrested in 2019.
