Mumbai BMW hit-and-run case: Police recreate crime scene after accused Mihir Shah and his driver confess their roles

Mumbai/IBNS: Shiv Sena leader Rajesh Shah's son Mihir Shah and his driver Rajrishi Bidawat have confessed their roles in the BMW hit-and-run case that killed one woman and injured her husband, media reports said.

Police have also recreated the crime scene with the two accused. The scene was recreated from CJ House to Sea Link Worli.

Mihir is accused of killing a woman after his BMW rammed a scooter-borne couple in Mumbai early Sunday.

The 24-year-old son of a Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction) leader crashed his BMW into a scooter in Worli in which Pradeep Nakhwa and Kaveri Nakhwa, a fish-seller couple, were returning around 5.30 am on Sunday after buying fish to sell during the day.

The impact caused their bike to overturn, throwing both the husband and wife onto the bonnet of the car.

While Pradeep was flung off the bonnet after the car hit him, Kaveri came under the wheels and was dragged for 1.5 km.

Mihir, who was drunk, then switched seats with his driver and they reversed the car over Kaveri before speeding away.

Mihir and the driver then went to Kala Nagar in Bandra, where they abandoned the car and took off the number plate to avoid being caught.

In a desperate attempt to save himself, the husband managed to jump off the bonnet. However, his wife was not as fortunate.

The accident led to chaos which enabled the driver of the four-wheeler to flee the scene, leaving the injured woman behind.

After leaving the car in Kala Nagar, the 24-year-old hailed an auto and went to his girlfriend's house in Goregaon. He "rested" there for two hours while his girlfriend informed Shah's sister about the accident. His sister went to Goregaon and then took Shah to their house in Borivali, said reports.

From there, Shah's mother, Meena, two sisters - Puja and Kinjal - and a friend, Avdeep, left for a resort in Shahpur, nearly 70 km from Mumbai. They hid there while the police kept looking for Shah, having arrested his father Rajesh Shah and the driver, Bidawat.

The injured woman was quickly rushed to a hospital where she was declared dead.

Mihir was arrested on Tuesday.

Rajesh Shah, who was arrested in connection with the same case on Sunday, was released on bail. He was granted bail after paying Rs. 15,000.

According to reports, the cops believe Rajesh Shah and their driver helped Mihir escape.
