Mamata jets off to Mumbai for Ambani wedding, plans political meetings too
Kolkata/IBNS: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday boarded a plane to Mumbai to attend the grand wedding of business tycoon Mukesh Ambani's son Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant.
Speaking to reporters before flying off to Mumbai, Mamata said she was repeatedly requested by the Ambani family to attend the wedding on July 12.
She said, "I would have probably missed the wedding. But Mukesh-ji, Nita-ji have repeatedly requested me to attend the ceremony so I am going."
The Chief Minister, who heads the Trinamool Congress, has also planned meetings with Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray and NCP-SP supremo, Sharad Pawar.
"I have sought appointments from Uddhav Thackeray, Sharad Pawar for political talks tomorrow since we didn't meet after the elections. I will also try to catch up with Akhilesh Yadav," she said.

Earlier, the Amabnis organised a mass wedding for underprivileged couples in a series of grand pre-wedding celebrations marking the union of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant.
The mass wedding marked the beginning of the wedding festivities for Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant.
It brought together over 50 underprivileged couples from the Palghar area, located about 100 kilometers from Mumbai.
Pop singer Justin Bieber was hired at Rs. 83 crore to sing at the Sangeet ceremony of Anant-Radhika wedding.
