Supreme Court refuses to cancel National Entrance-cum-Eligibility Test-Under Graduate 2024
The Supreme Court on Tuesday refused to cancel the National Entrance-cum-Eligibility Test-Under Graduate 2024 or order a retest by mentioning that the two localized leaks could not determine that there was a systemic breach.
The apex court bench headed by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud said it would be unjustified to subject 23.33 lakh examinees to a re-exam.
The court also acknowledged the medical entrance test papers leaked in Jharkhand's Hazaribagh and Bihar’s Patna.
The NEET-UG exam, taken by nearly 24 lakh aspiring medical students, was held on May 5, and the results were released on June 4.
Despite the National Testing Agency (NTA)'s efforts to manage the situation, allegations of a widespread leak continued with protests and legal actions nationwide.
The Supreme Court also got involved, slamming the NTA for its handling of the issue.
