What is Vadra model of land acquisition: BJP asks Rahul

New Delhi, Apr 19 (IBNS) Hitting back at Rahul Gandhi who attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his land acquisition policy and calling it aimed at benefiting the corporates at a farmers' rally here, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) asked the Gandhi scion, back after a 57-day sabbatical, what is the Robert Vadra model of land policy, referring to the land scams in which the Gandhi son-in-law is tainted.

The BJP also mocked the launching of Rahul Gandhi afresh in the farmers' rally.

"Rahul Gandhi says Modi follows the Gujarat model of land acquisition, we want to know from him what is the Vadra model then," said BJP spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad soon after the rally of Rahul Gandhi.

Prasad said: "How many times Rahul Gandhi will be launched and re-launched?  Congress has vanished in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar."

"We condemn this brazen contempt against the popular mandate. Popular choice has come for Modi and BJP and you cannot insult it," he said on Rahul Gandhi's utterances at the rally.

On Rahul's criticism of Modi for his speech in Toronto where he said he is cleaning up the stink of 50 years, Prasad said: "Modi has said instead of scam India we are bringing skill India."

Prasad said during the Congress regime the mobile spectrum scam alone was worth Rs 1, 10,000 crore.

He said the Ordinance route adopted by the BJP on the land bill was for the benefit of the farmers.

On Rahul's dig at Modi's foreign trip and speeches there, Prasad said: "Some go abroad to promote the glory of India while some go  abroad for introspection."

Flexing political muscles after his controversial 57-day-long sabbatical, Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi assured the farmers in a rally on Sunday that he will 'fight their battle' while slamming the Narendra Modi government at the Centre and saying that the Prime Minister aims in making the base of India weak by his 'pro-corporate' measures.

"The government has forgotten that this country belongs to farmers. This country does not belong to the corporate houses. Farmer have created the base of India," Rahul said claiming that the Prime Minister is weakening the same base.

He also slammed Modi for "insulting" the devotion of his countrymen during his foreign trips while addressing the Congress's mega "Kisan Khet Mazdoor" rally in Delhi's Ramlila Maidan.

"Modiji went abroad and said he is cleaning the garbage of India dumped for over 50 years. I felt very bad. He can't see the dedication of the people for so long. And secondly, the word he used for the country does not suit him and his position," he said.

Rahul Gandhi also questioned Modi's win in the Lok Sabha election and said he achieved victory by stooping down before the corporate people.

"Modiji won the elections by taking loans from big industrialists. He will pay back the debts with the help of your lands. So he wants to make those lands' value weak and will snatch away from you to pay back to the industrialists," Rahul Gandhi said.

"He made believe the industrialists that 'if you make me the PM of the country I will snatch away the lands from the poor from the whole country as I did in Gujarat'," Rahul said.

He asked that "Why is the Modi government trying to pass the bill through an ordinance route?"

Slamming Modi's model of development, the Gandhi scion said: "His model of development is making the base weak."

He said Modi's Make in India concept has been made to deceive the poor.

"Make in India' is Modiji's dream that will not work. They will take away your land and you will have no other employment," Rahul claimed.

In the same rally, Congress President Sonia Gandhi  accused  Narendra Modi of abandoning the farmers, and said the central government's attitude is anti-poor.

She said the government is reducing the budgetary allocations for all social sector schemes.

"The changes made by the BJP government in Land Bill is only to benefit corporates," said Sonia.
