RG Kar rape-murder: 12-hour Bengal bandh today, BJP's march to CM's house, Mamata Banerjee to hit streets
Kolkata/IBNS: The political rallies and protests are set to take the centre stage of West Bengal on Friday with the SUCI's 12-hour state-wide bandh against the vandalism, which was carried out by miscreants at Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on Wednesday late night.
The SUCI supporters were seen clashing with police in various districts of the state.
Mild response towards the bandh call has been reported by local channels from Siliguri, a city in North Bengal.
Some visuals showed how SUCI supporters clashed with police at Hazra Road in Kolkata. Similar incidents were reported in Cooch Behar.
Meanwhile, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will hold a rally demanding justice for the 31-year-old lady trainee doctor, who was raped and murdered at the seminar hall in RG Kar Medical College and Hospital a week ago.
The Calcutta High Court on Tuesday snubbed Banerjee's direction to her police to solve the case by August 18 and handed over the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation.
The Chief Minister has now demanded that CBI should solve the case by August 18 and "deliver justice".
On the other hand, Bharatiya Janata Party has planned a candle march to Chief Minister's residence demanding her resignation over the RG Kar rape-murder case and vandalism which took place at the state-run hospital.
