If we divide then we will be chopped off, says Yogi Adityanath citing the recent situation in Bangladesh
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday referred to the recent crisis in Bangladesh and emphasised the need to maintain the unity of the nation.
Addressing a Janmashtami event, he said: "My brothers and sisters, nothing can be achieved without unity."
"The nation can only remain strong if we stay united," he said.
"If we divide then we will be chopped off," he said.
"We should not commit the mistake that you have seen in Bangladesh," he said.
A political vacuum was created in Bangladesh in recent times when former PM Sheikh Hasina and her government were toppled amid violent protests against her regime over the job quota issue.
Amid severe demonstrations, Hasina, who returned to power for another term after winning the polls earlier this year, fled to India.
Under the leadership of Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus, an interim government was formed following Hasina's exit.
Following the fall of Sheikh Hasina's government reports emerged that several Hindu houses and business establishments were targeted by radicals in Bangladesh.
