New Delhi: A DTC low-floor bus carrying around 50 passengers was destroyed after catching fire in Delhi’s Jagatpuri area on Thursday, media reports said.

All passengers were safely evacuated, and no injuries were reported, officials confirmed.

Delhi Fire Service (DFS) station officer Anoop Singh stated that they received an emergency call at 9:42 am, and three fire tenders were dispatched to extinguish the blaze, news agency PTI reported.

The fire is suspected to have originated from a short circuit in the bus’s air conditioning system.

The bus was heading towards Seemapuri when the incident occurred.

An eyewitness recounted that a biker spotted smoke emanating from the bus engine and alerted the driver, who immediately stopped the bus and instructed everyone to disembark.

A total of 50 passengers were onboard, all of whom were safely evacuated, he stated.

The incident led to a major traffic jam at the Jagatpuri intersection, disrupting other commuters. Traffic police later intervened to restore order, according to the DFS officer.
