Cooperated with CBI: Left leader Minakshi Mukherjee, who stopped the vehicle with victim's body, appearing before probe agency in RG Kar case

Kolkata/IBNS: CPI-M leader Minakshi Mukherjee on Thursday appeared before the Central Bureau of Investigation after she was summoned by the probe agency in connection with the RG Kar rape-murder case.

"I have cooperated with the CBI. I am ready to cooperate with the probe agency whenever it requires. We all want to know the truth behind the crime," Minakshi said after coming out of the CBI office after two hours of questioning. She reached the CBI office at around 11 am.

Minakshi, a prominent leader of CPI-M's youth wing DYFI, had reportedly stopped the vehicle carrying the victims' body on August 9.

The CPI-M claims Minakshi was one of those who forced police to let the victim's parents see their daughter's mortal remains on August 9 night.

The rape and murder of a 31-year-old trainee doctor at Kolkata's major state-run RG Kar Medical College and Hospital have brought the administration under scanner over its alleged cover-up and tampering of evidence.

The victim's parents had alleged they were made to wait for hours to get a glimpse of their daughter on August 9.

Though Kolkata Police had arrested civic volunteer Sanjoy Roy in connection with the incident, West Bengal junior doctors, who are on ceasework demanding justice for the victim, suspect there are more than one behind the incident.

The case is currently being probed by the CBI under the monitoring of the Supreme Court.
