Biden welcomes PM Modi with a hug at Delaware residence; leaders hold bilateral talks ahead of Quad summit
Delaware: US President Joe Biden welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday (Indian time) in Delaware, where they engaged in a bilateral meeting. The discussions are set to cover a range of topics, notably China’s actions in the Indo-Pacific and the ongoing Ukraine conflict.
At Biden's residence, the leaders will also explore avenues to enhance the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership.

PM Modi was joined by External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, and India's Ambassador to the US Vinay Mohan Kwatra. The American team included Secretary of State Antony Blinken, National Security Advisor T.H. Jake Sullivan, and US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti.

The Prime Minister arrived in the US earlier in the day for a three-day visit that includes participation in the annual Quad summit and a significant address at the United Nations. Upon landing at Philadelphia International Airport, he received a warm welcome from a large crowd of Indian community members, with whom he interacted before heading to his hotel in Delaware.
At the Hotel duPont in Delaware, he was greeted with music and dance, including a Garba performance by local women. Following this, PM Modi expressed his joy at connecting with the community, stating, "It’s always a delight to interact with them," and he shared his anticipation for an Indian community event on Sunday.
In a social media post, he wrote, "The Indian community has distinguished itself in the USA, making a positive impact across diverse sectors. At around 9:30 PM India time on Sunday, 22nd September, I will address the Modi and US programme in New York City. Let’s celebrate the bonds that connect our nations!"

Besides his meeting with Biden, PM Modi will have individual discussions with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida. The upcoming Quad summit is expected to take place in Wilmington, Delaware, where several new initiatives are anticipated to be announced.
PM Modi will also engage in a roundtable discussion with CEOs from leading American tech companies focusing on Artificial Intelligence (AI), quantum computing, and semiconductors. He will also attend an event for the Indian diaspora in Long Island, New York. Before his trip, he expressed eagerness to work with the Quad leaders to advance their goal of fostering peace and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific.
Following the Wilmington summit, PM Modi will head to New York for the 'Summit of the Future' at the UN General Assembly, where he will speak on issues of global peace and development.
