Detonators, gas cylinder found on train tracks in MP, UP
New Delhi: At least 10 detonators were discovered on a railway track, intended to sabotage a train carrying Army personnel in Madhya Pradesh's Burhanpur district, media reports said.
The incident occurred near Sagphata railway station while the military train was en route from Jammu and Kashmir to Karnataka on Wednesday, according to an NDTV report.
When the train passed over the detonators, the driver was alerted by an explosion and quickly brought the train to a halt.
He then informed the station master. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Earlier today, an empty gas cylinder was found on the tracks near Prempur railway station in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, the report said.
The locomotive driver of a goods train had to engage emergency brakes to stop the train. Police indicated that this incident happened at 8:10 am while the train was traveling from Kanpur to Prayagraj.
"It was found that the cylinder was of five-kilogram capacity and empty. It was removed from the track. The matter is being investigated," the police was quoted as saying by NDTV.
This was the second such incident in Uttar Pradesh this month.
On September 8, an attempt was made to derail the Kalindi Express, heading towards Bhiwani from Prayagraj, by placing an LPG cylinder on the tracks.
The train had hit the cylinder before coming to a screeching halt.
