16 BJP MLAs in touch with us, claims JMM: Report
Ranchi: The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), which is in power in Jharkhand, has claimed that 16 BJP MLAs are in touch with the party, causing a major political stir in the state where Chief Minister Hemant Soren is already under the radar of the probe agencies over allegations of illegal mining, media reports said.
“They are ready to support the Hemant Soren government since they all feel suffocated in the BJP,” JMM spokesperson Supriyo Bhattacharya has said, reported India Today.
"They want to support the JMM-led government by forming a splinter group,” he added, hinting at a Maharashtra kind of political coup in the Jharkand unit of BJP.
Bhattacharya, however, said his party could take a decision after a formal proposal is made.
His statement came in response to a question on the JMM-led government's stability in the state as speculations are rife that ally Congress MLAs are being lured by the BJP.
Pratul Shahdeo has dismissed JMM’s claims of a potential mutiny in the state BJP.
“JMM MLA’s are mired in knee-deep corruption. The party is fighting tooth and nail to save its entity. A thick cloud hovers on its survival,” Shahdeo was quoted as saying in the report.
“The JMM MLA’s have sustained on loot and corruption and now they are making a last ditch effort to sail through by building false narratives and perceptions based on delusion, misconception and misleading information,” he added.
