3 state loss 'temporary setback'; party's focus on 2024 Lok Sabha polls: Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge

| @indiablooms | Dec 03, 2023, at 11:08 pm

New Delhi: With the assembly election outcomes in three out of the four states pointing towards a loss for the Congress, the party's national president Mallikarjun Kharge, termed it as a "temporary setback".

Kharge said that the party would now shift its focus towards readying for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

"Our performance in these three states [Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan] have no doubt been disappointing, but with determination, we reaffirm our strong resolve to rebuild and revive ourselves in these three states," the Congress chief wrote on X.

He said the party fought a spirited campaign in these states and thanked Congress workers as well as the people who voted for the party.

He thanked the voters in Telangana, who ensured a sound victory for Congress while allowing the party a face-saving reprieve amid a three-state loss against the BJP.
