42% COVID-19 cases in the age group 20-40, says Health Ministry
New Delhi/IBNS: The Union Health Ministry has said 42 per cent of the people who tested positive for the new coronavirus infection are in the age group of 21-40 years.
The data proves that young people are equally vulnerable to the infection against the common belief that they can resist the disease, unlike older people.
Union Health Ministry Joint Secretary Lav Aggarwal said, 33 per cent of the cases belong to the patients between 41-60 years.
Only 17 per cent coronavirus cases fell in the age group of 41-60 years, he said.
He said the least affected are the people below 20 years of age which are roughly nine per cent.
India has recorded 472 COVID-19 positive cases in the past 24 hours, Health Ministry official said on Sunday.
The number of COVID-19 cases in the country now stands at 3374.
Lav Aggarwal, Joint Secy, Health Ministry, said during a press conference: "Total 79 deaths have been reported."
"11 additional deaths have been reported since yesterday. 267 persons have recovered," he said.
