58 kg gold biscuits recovered in Kolkata, 12 held

Kolkata, Aug 13 (IBNS): The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) officials on Friday night arrested at least twelve suspects from Rabindra Sarani area in central Kolkata and recovered as many as 58 kg gold biscuits from their possessions, officials said.

"Acting on a tip off, we conducted a raid in a guest house near central Kolkata's Rabindra Sarani area and booked 12 persons, including few citizens of Manipur and Mayanmar, and seized as many as 350 gold biscuits and bars from their possessions," a senior DRI official told IBNS.

"Weight of the recovered gold biscuits in nearly 58.1 kg and expected market value of the seizure is 18.34 crore," the officer further said.

The arrested were produced in a city court on Saturday and sent to judicial custody till Aug 24.
