AAP leader Raghu Ram attacked in BHU, Gul Panag escaped
Varanasi, May 9 (IBNS): Popular TV anchor and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Raghu Ram was on Friday allegedly attacked by unidentified men inside the Benaras Hindu University (BHU) campus in Varanasi.
His party colleague and actor Gul Panag was also chased but she managed to escape.
Raghu Ram alleged that his attackers were goons sent by the BJP.
"Oh well. I just got attacked by 2 guys with lathis inside BHU! They were outsiders. The BHU boys chased them away. #BJPKeGunde," he tweeted.
"There were 3 guys. The BHU students were outraged coz they were outsiders. But I love BHU students for not hitting back. #BJPKeGunde," he said.
Raghu Ram said he was not campaigning in Varanasi.
"We weren't campaigning. Ab kya banaras ke ye haal hain ki atithiyon ke sirf upastithi se aapatti hai? (Does Benaras now have problem with the presence of guests?) I refuse to believe it," he posted.
"ITS OVER!! THE CONTEST IS OVER!!! MODI HAS BEEN DEFEATED BY ARVIND!! #AAPWaveInKashi," Raghu Ram later tweeted.
Meanwhile, Gul Panag said she was not attacked and was safe.
"Just read about me being 'attacked'. Incorrrect. Safe & sound," she tweeted.
"Things heated up during an interaction with #BHU students. Got away before things escalated. @tweetfromraghu WAS attacked. Is now safe," Gul posted.
