AAP terms Fadnavis led Maha govt 'undemocratic' and overlooking the mandate of the people

New Delhi/IBNS: The Aam Admi Party on Saturday labelled the newly-formed government in Maharashtra "undemocratic" and the mandate of the people of Maharashtra was overlooked in the formation of the government, media reports said.

After a month-long political deadlock in the state of Maharashtra, Bhartiya Janata Party's Devendra Fadnavis took oath as the 19th Chief Minister of the state for a second term on Saturday morning while National Conference Party's Ajit Pawar was sworn in as Deputy CM.

Ajit Pawar is the nephew of NCP chief Sharad Pawar and was known to be his political heir.

AAP leader Sanjay Singh said the way the government in Maharashtra was formed was "undemocratic" and it "disrespected" the mandate of the people.

He questioned the role of Maharashtra Governor in the events and alleged that the role of the government was reduced following those in power and added that the "dark act" that transpired during the "dark of the night" was that of "killing the democracy".

Singh said BJP and Ajit Pawar added up to 127 MLAs which was far less than the 144 needed to form government in Maharashtra.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia taking a dig at the Devendra Fadnavis-led government in Maharashtra, tweeted," Abki baar - chori chhipe sarkar."

Maharashtra Assembly election results were declared on Oct 24 and President's rule was declared on Nov 12 after no party or coalition could produce the numbers required to form the government in the state.
