AAP's 'nakaampanthi' ways betrayed Delhiites, Rajiv used INS Virat for vacations: PM Modi
New Delhi, May 8 (UNI): In a sharp attack on the AAP and the Congress - the two main contenders in Delhi - ahead of the May 12 general elections here, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said the Arvind Kejriwal government was blocking central funds.
"The Nakaam-panthi model (of AAP) has betrayed the people of Delhi," said Mr Modi addressing a mega rally at Ramlila maidan here.
"The nation saw four political cultures - naampanthi, vaampanthi, daam aur daman panthi, vikaspanthi. But Delhi saw a fiftth model too - naakaampanthi - the one who rejects work related to Delhi's development and fail when they try to work,'' Mr Modi said.
Responding to Congress president Rahul Gandhi's charge that the Indian army was not anyone's personal property, the PM charged the Gandhi family of treating state property as their personal property and said: "Gandhis used INS Virat warship for holidays."
Mr Modi said this happened when Rajiv Gandhi was the Prime Minister and he went on 10-day holidays.
"Have you ever heard that somebody goes for holidays on a warship?'' he asked "Even Navy personnel were put on service of Rajiv Gandhi and his family while they were vacationing at the island. INS Viraat was also stationed at the island for 10 days during that time."
"Whatever injustice was meted out by the Congress in last so may years, we are trying to rectify that," the Prime Minister said, adding that Congress is talking about 'Nyay' these days.
Crediting his government with having improved India's ranking in 'ease of doing business' , the PM said: "Many years ago, a concept in the world had come - Ease of Doing Business. We have not only improved the ranking of Ease of Doing Business in five years, but further improved Ease of Living."
On a day when Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also held two roadshows in Delhi, the Prime Minister said its the fourth generation of the 'Naamdar' Congress family that the country is watching today.
"But this trend has not been confined to just one family. Who remained close to the family, also elevated the flag of dynasty," he said.
Mr Modi said Dikshits in Delhi, Hoodas in Haryana, from there till Bhajan Lal ji & Bansi Lal ji dynasty politics is going on.
"Beant Singh's family in Punjab, Gehlots and Pilots in Rajasthan. Scindias, Kamal Nath's family and Digvijaya Singh's family in MP are strengthening dynasty," he said.
Congress has suddenly started talking about 'Nyay' nowadays, he said, adding that the Congress has to tell who will account for the injustice committed in the 1984 Sikh riots?
"How can the parties that have been thinking of crushing talent and talents, represent India's thinking of the 21st century?" he said.
Enumerating the development agenda of NDA government, the Prime Minister said middle class is given help for their houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.
"Respecting the honesty of the middle class we have kept the annual income up to Rs 5 Lakh out of the taxable income," he said.
Mentioning the surgical strikes carried out in Pakistan, Mr Modi said: ''The new India no longer cries about its problems. The new India recognises that the threat of terror attacks is not yet over, but is confident, because the new India now kills terrorists in their homes."
Wooing Delhiites in his an almost-an-hour speech, the Prime Minister said when work is done with good intentions, it yields results.
"Delhiites have josh of Punjab Haryana, sweetness of Pooranchal, excitement of the North east and gentleness of the South," he said addressing a huge gathering at Ramlila Maidan here in support of the candidates of the BJP for the seven Lok Sabha seats in Delhi.
Mr Modi said when work is done with good intentions, it also yields results, adding that inflation used to be on a rise, it is now under control. "Opposition is unable to speak about inflation, even if they want to."
He said the Delhi government was blocking central schemes and not allowing people to benefit from central schemes like 'Ayushman Bharat'.
"The poor have access to houses, toilets, electricity and are given benefits of Ayushman Bharat Yojana," he said.
Taking up the issue of rising pollution in the national capital, Mr Modi said: "The major challenge of Delhi is pollution. The solution to pollution is in utilising better technology and modern ways to use transport."
To the discomfort caused to the people on his movement in NCR region, he said: "I have come here from among you people, so staying in bulletproof walls is not my hobby or habit. When there is an opportunity, I try to put this wall aside."
He also made a reference about abusive language used by oppositions parties, saying time and again the opposition, including the Congress, have hurled abuses on him since he became a Prime Minister.
Mr Modi also raised about cleaning Yamuna and said work has started for a 'aviral Yamuna'.
Amid the echoes of 'Modi Modi', the Prime Minister said 'inspector-raj' has been removed after the GST was brought about his government.
Defence minister Nirmala Sitharaman and BJP candidates for Delhi constituencies were also present on the dais at the rally.
