AAP's trade union in Bengal attacks all parties over Baranagar jute mill crisis

Kolkata, Jan 12 (IBNS): The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)'s trade union in West Bengal, Shramik Vikash Sangathan (SVS), has recently attacked all political parties in the state over the ongoing crisis in Baranagar jute mill.

Addressing a press conference on January 9, the SVS has hit out at Baranagar jute mill administration including its owner Gobind Sarda. The AAP has also attacked the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC), CPI-M, Congress as well as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which is trying to keep its strong foothold in the state.

Alleging the workers of the jute mill are not paid judiciously by Sarda, AAP Youth Organisation's state president, Pranojit Dey, has threatened to go for a widespread protest.

Dey has demanded a full payment of the workers' wages within one week, delivery of Provident Fund (PF) in one cheque, linking of PF with Aadhaar and also the payment of pensions of retired workers.

"If the demands are not met, we will do drama in a way that Sarda will have to fulfill it," he said.

Calling the recent nationwide strike over trade union crisis by the CPI-M and Congress as a "drama", Dey said the AAP will start a begging programme if the demands are not met.

"We will start a begging programme from CM to PM. We will carry out the programme from January 18 to February 1," Dey said.

The AAP has decided to submit a deputation to chief minister Mamata Banerjee on February 1.

"If the problem is not solved still then we will start dharna and hunger strike in front of the Prime Minister's house as long as the problem is not resolved," the party, which is Delhi's ruling party, said.
