After being stranded for 11 hrs in Karachi, 138 passengers of SpiceJet finally fly to Dubai

New Delhi/IBNS: After being stranded for nearly 11 hours in Pakistan's Karachi, 138 passengers of a Delhi-Dubai SpiceJet finally took off for UAE on an alternate flight that was sent from India on Tuesday evening.

The Delhi to Dubai-bound Spicejet flight landed at Jinnah International Airport in Karachi after an indicator light malfunctioned, a spokesperson of the airline said, adding that no emergency landing was required.

"On July 5, 2022, SpiceJet B737 aircraft operating flight SG-11 (Delhi - Dubai) was diverted to Karachi due to an indicator light malfunctioning. The aircraft landed safely in Karachi and passengers were safely disembarked. No emergency was declared and the aircraft made a normal landing," a SpiceJet spokesperson said.

The spokesperson said the flight crew noticed an unusual fuel quantity reduction from the left tank.

"They carried out relevant non-normal checklist, however fuel quantity kept on decreasing. PIC decided to divert the aircraft to Karachi (KHI). Aircraft diverted in coordination with ATC and landed safely at KHI,” according to the spokesperson.

"There was no earlier report of any malfunction with the aircraft. Passengers have been served refreshments," a SpiceJet spokesperson said.

After Tuesday's incident, aviation regulator DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation) has started a probe into the matter.

This incident comes three days after a Delhi-Jabalpur SpiceJet flight made an emergency landing in Delhi due to smoke in the cabin.
