After Sakshi, Bengal BJP leader advocates for 5 Children
"I would like to tell all my Hindu mothers and sisters that if they don't have five children, in future there will be no balance in India," Shyamal Goswami, the BJP leader said.
" Don't misunderstand me. If my Hindu mothers and sisters don't have five children, hardly any Hindus will be left in India. To protect Hinduism and Sanatan Dharma it is necessary for all Hindus to give birth to 5 children," he asserted.
His comment came a week after BJP Lok Sabha member Sakshi Maharaj made a smilar preaching triggering widespread controversy and leaving his party embarrassed.
He had said that a Hindu woman must have at least four children to protect the Hindu religion.
The BJP, which distanced itself from Sakshi Maharaj's comment, served him with a showcause notice on Monday.
The BJP lawmaker, however, denied on Tuesday that he had received any showcause notice from the party.
At a time when his government was trying to push through reforms to build up a modern India, the series of unwanted comments and utterances from party MPs, including ministers, in recent times made Prime Minister Narendra Modi to make it clear that he would not compromise on such things and that nobody should cross the 'Lakshman rekha.'
