Chennai/UNI: Days after DMDK founder Vijayakanth tested positive for Covid-19, his wife and party treasurer Premalatha, was also infected with the virus and was admitted to a private hospital on Tuesday.

A medical update issued by Miot International, where both of them were admitted, said Premalatha tested positive for Covid-19 yesterday and was admitted for treatment today.

She is currently stable and under observation, hospital Managing Director Dr Prithvi Mohandas said.

He said Vijayakanth would be discharged shortly once his preliminary tests were conducted.

"He is asymptomatic, stable and responding well to routine non-invasive care," he said.
