Agartala: Three arm dealers with six pistol arrested from railway station

Agartala, May 29 (UNI) Three arms smugglers including a woman were arrested with five sophisticated pistols and six live cartridges of ammunition from Deoghar-Agartala express train, which arrived here this morning.

All the accused persons were the residents of Tripura and boarded in the train from Lumding last night.

Police said based on intelligence inputs, a contingent of Railway Protection Force (RPF) detained a woman Shaila Rani Chakma of Thirthamukh area under Natunbazar police station of Amarpur when the train reached at Agartala station around 1000 hrs.

During the search, RPF recovered five sophisticated pistols and six ammunition from her possession. RPF authorities also learnt that the consignment of arms was supposed to be delivered at Agartala railway station by the detained arms carrier to other arms smugglers.

With the inputs of arms carrier Shaila Rani Chakma, RPF jawans set a trap at the station and noticed that two arms smugglers were waiting at a platform to receive the consignment. After the establishment of their identities, RPF detained them too who were identified as Laurence Debbarma of Golaghati of Southern Agartala and Dilip Debbarma of Takarjala east of Agartala under Sepahijala district.

They were handed over to the police and later produced to court seeking their remand for further investigation.
