Akhilesh Yadav sacks uncle Shivpal, 3 other ministers

Lucknow, Oct 23 (IBNS): Ahead of the crucial Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections, state Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday sacked uncle Shivpal Yadav as a minister for the second time.

Three other ministers Narad Rai, Om Prakash Singh and MoS Shadab Fatima were also sacked.

The step is seen as a retort to his father and Samajwadi Party (SP) supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav.

In fact, the move is speculated as Samajwadi Party being positioned for a split, with Akhilesh and Mulayam emerging as rival leaders, just ahead of assembly elections.

Earlier, Samajwadi Party general secretary  Ram Gopal Yadav on Sunday wrote a letter to his colleagues saying the future of the party lay with incumbent Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav.

In the letter addressed to his fellow party workers, Ram Gopal Yadav stated that he wants the state government to be formed under the leadership of his nephew Akhilesh Yadav.

The party last week cleared all rumours and said Akhilesh Yadav will be the chief ministerial candidate of the party in the upcoming Uttar Pradesh elections.

Earlier rumours suggested that UP's incumbent chief minister Akhilesh had lost his father Mulayam Singh Yadav's confidence.

Reports also suggested that Akhilesh could be sidelined during the election campaign.
