Amid power tussle in Maharashtra, CM Fadnavis expresses displeasure over Sena targetting BJP

Mumbai, Oct 29 (UNI) Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday broke the silence on the ongoing tussle between the BJP and Shiv Sena over power sharing saying the Sena was not promised CM's post for two-and-a-half years, when the alliance was formalised before the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.

Fadnavis further said that he will be the chief minister for next five years.

The BJP leader expressed displeasure over the Shiv Sena's mouthpiece 'Saamna' frequently targeting the BJP, saying its role was to "derail" the talks.

Talking to mediapersons at his residence 'Varsha', the Chief Minister said, "There should be no doubt in anybody's mind as it will be a BJP-led government for next five years,".

Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray last week reminded the BJP of the 50:50 formula "agreed upon" between himself, BJP president Amit Shah and Fadnavis ahead of the Lok Sabha polls.

The Chief Minister said , "I have confirmed with Amit Shah and he told me that the BJP has not given any assurance for the chief minister's post for two- and-a-half years (each for the BJP and Sena) when the alliance was formalised before the Lok Sabha polls." Asked what was then the '50:50 formula', he said, "You will know soon."

In Maharashtra, the BJP has won 105 seats while Sena has 56 seats.

Meanwhile, When Sena MP Sanjay Raut was questioned about the delay in government formation, he quipped, "there is no Dushyant [Chautala] in Maharashtra whose father is in jail."
