New Delhi/UNI: Amit Shah on Tuesday refuted the charge made by Congress Floor Leader in the Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury that the Union Home Minister had sat on the chair of poet Rabindranath Tagore during his recent visit to Visva Bharati University in West Bengal.

Shah in the Lok Sabha said that the allegation levelled by Chowdhury on Monday in the House was wrong.

''I didn't sit on Rabindranath Tagore's chair'' the Union Home Minister said.

Making a reference to a letter by the Visva-Bharati Vice-chancellor, Shah said, ''I have the letter from the vice-chancellor of Visva-Bharati University that says that I did not sit on such chair, I sat on a window seat where people sit to write down their thoughts on visiting the monument.''

The Union Home Minister said that the Congress leader had given wrong information to the House, so it should be removed from the record of the proceedings.
