Amit Shah to visit Bengal in August: BJP state president Sukanta Majumdar

Kolkata/UNI: West Bengal BJP President Sukanta Majumdar, who returned from New Delhi on Saturday, said Union Home Minister Amit Shah has assured that he will visit the state in August and hold a public rally.

''Met Hon’ble Union Minister Shri @AmitShah ji today at Delhi and apprised him of the political situation, panchayat election results & violence in West Bengal. Sought his valuable guidance for strengthening the party in the state," Majumdar said on Friday.

"Union Home Minister Amit Shah assured that in the month of August, he will visit West Bengal and hold a public rally... TMC is trying to horsetrade BJP workers," Majumdar stated after meeting Shah in the national capital.

"We are fighting against it...Be it the Assam govt or Manipur govt they are trying to curb violence in their state, but West Bengal has not even tried to curb the panchayat poll violence," the BJP MP from Balurghat reiterated.

"Even after farce and bogus voting, our (BJP) 11,004 members were elected, and it is a great number... CM Mamata Banerjee is doing dirty politics," alleged Majumdar.

Shah earlier tweeted, "Even bloodcurdling violence in West Bengal could not stop the BJP from putting up a stellar performance in the Panchayat Election. The BJP nearly doubled its seat tally from the previous election, indicating a significant rise in the trust placed in it by the people."

"This shows that the people's affection lies with the PM @narendramodi Ji-led BJP, and will surely lead the party to meteoric heights in Lok Sabha and assembly polls, " Shah added.

"My heartfelt gratitude to the people of West Bengal and many Congratulations to Shri @DrSukantaBJP, Shri @SuvenduWB and the Karyakartas who stood firm with the party despite mercilessly adverse circumstances," the Union Home Minister stated.

Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari said, "Contempt of Court is an understatement. The State Election Commission has made a mockery of the Order passed by the Division Bench presided over by the Chief Justice of the Hon'ble Calcutta High Court, regarding the preservation of the integral components of the Election Process such as CCTV footage, relevant documents, Ballots & Ballot Boxes etc. "

Adhikari claimed, "The SEC in collusion with the State Govt Officials & police, have executed Pishi-Bhaipo's plan to steal the Elections by by-passing every direction issued by the Calcutta High Court."

"While the actual Ballots are being found scattered in dumping grounds, the fake 'Mamata' ballots have made their way to the Counting centres," he alleged.
