AMRI fire tragedy: Charges framed against 16 accused after 4 years
According to reports, the accused have been charged under IPC section 304 (Culpable homicide not amounting to murder) and several Fire Act sections.
On Dec 9 in 2011, a massive fire broke out in the basement of AMRI hospital in south Kolkata's Dhakuria area and a part of the hospital building caught fire very soon.
Before the firefighters doused the blaze, at least 90 patients and attendants were killed due to asphyxiation.
After starting investigation into the case, police arrested several persons for ignoring fire department's guidelines and their negligence as well.
The trial in the case will commence in Alipore Court from Sept 5.
