Dharamshala, Apr 29 (UNI): Former Union minister and sitting Congress Rajya Sabha member Anand Sharma was on Monday criticised the Prime Minister for playing with the sentiments of the people and emphatically made it clear that it wasn't only Narendra Modi who could deal with terrorism.

He was addressing a public rally at Dari today after Congress nominee Pawan Kajal filed his nomination papers here. Kajal was accompanied by senior Congress leaders, including former chief minister Virbhadra Singh, Leader of Opposition in assembly Mukesh Agnihotri and state Congress chief Kuldeep Singh Rathore while filing the papers.

Sharma said that Congress leadership including former Prime Ministers Mrs Indira Gandhi and Mr Rajiv Gandhi have sacrificed their lives for the national integration and were victims of terrorism and attained martyrdom. He asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP president Amit Shah not to give their advise to Congress leadership as these advises were not needed because Congress leaders who have given sacrifices they know what is the need of the country.

Talking to UNI after the public meeting, Anand Sharma expressed concern over the deterioration in the situation in Kashmir valley. He said that it had improved earlier and tourists from within and outside in large numbers were visiting the valley. He said that there is far more insecurity today and violence in valley.

He further said that it is matter of national concern as the terror attack have increased not only in number also in intensity and militants also attacked on army camps.

The Congress leader said even post the surgical strike, there had been large number of attacks and India has lost hundreds of soldiers and officers of Indian army and paramilitary forces.

He said: “When it comes to terrorism, I want to make it absolutely clear that India stands together as one nation. We are proud of Indian army for their bravery, their capability and their sacrifice but the Prime Minister and BJP have insulted the Indian army and Indian soldier by calling them Modi’s army and by seeking votes on the blood and the sacrifice of Indian jawans which is condemnable.”

He further said that PM Modi should not have done this as the Indian army secures the country and fights under the Tricolour.

Earlier, former chief minister Virbhadra Singh addressed and blessed Congress candidate from Kangra Pawan Kajal. Congress in charge for the state Rajni Patel, HPCC Chief Kuldeep Rathore, Incharge for Punjab Asha Kumari and Pawan Kajal also addressed the gathering and highlighted the manifesto of the Congress party.
