Anti-CAA: At least 20 people arrested for calling bandh in Kalaburagi

Kalaburagi/UNI: As a precautionary measure more than 20 activists were arrested on Wednesday who had called a bandh on Thursday against the contentious Citizenship (Amendment) Act 2019 (CAA).

The arrested included those belonging to Dalit and minority community and leader from People's Forum groups, sources said.

Under the aegis of the People's Forum group, Kalaburgi bandh on December 19 was called by them. However , the city Police Commissioner M N Nagaraj had denied the permission to the bandh.

The arrest comes in the wake of a written examination on December 19 for recruitment to the headmasters of Moulana Azad Minority Model schools and Group A and B posts, the Police Commissioner said.

On Tuesday, the People Forum group announced that they would be stage a dharna in front of Deputy Commissioner's Office and later take a bike rally.
