APSC cash-for-job scam : Police summons to 37 officials including 25 ACS, APS officials

Guwahati, June 5 (IBNS) : Assam police summoned 37 more officials, including 25 Assam Civil Service (ACS) and Assam Police Service (APS) officials, to grill in connection with the cash-for-job scam of Assam Public Service Commission (APSC).

The investigating team of Dibrugarh police had recently sent a letter to the Assam government for seeking permission to grill the 25 ACS and APS officials, which were declared successful in the 2014 APSC examination.

A top official of Dibrugarh police said that, apart from the 25 ACS and APS officials, the investing team also summoned 5 Tax officials, 4 Excise officials and three District Transport Officer (DTOs).

“The sleuths of Dibrugarh police will grill them from June 9 next in connection with the cash-for-job scam of APSC,” the top Assam cops said.

The ACS and APS officials, who are summoned by the Dibrugarh police are – Rajarshi Sen Deka, Debojit Bora, Amarjit Das, Rumi Saikia, Gitali Doley, Jayanta Kumar Nath, Rakesh Gupta, Sabira Imran, Dilip Kumar Kalita, Sunayana Aideu, Raju Saha, Jyotirmoy Chakraborty, Himangsu Choudhury, Dipak Khanikar, Badarul Islam Choudhury, Nishamoni Deka, Pallavi Sarma Choudhury, Jatindra Prasad Baruah, Harsha Jyoti Bora, Anirudha Roy, Barun Purakayashtha, Sudipta Goswami Bhattacharya, Daithun Borgayari, Kunal Das and Kamal Debnath.

“The forensic reports of several answer scripts under APSC also indicated as anomalies were took place in selection process,” the official said.

The Dibrugarh police led by ASP Surajit Singh Panesar and Subhashis Baruah had recently seized over 990 answer scripts of the APSC examination held in 2015 were seized from the strong room in the commission office which being sealed earlier..

Earlier, the sleuths of Dibrugarh police had seized several answer scripts and tabulation sheets from the house of Rakesh Paul’s wife house, who was arrested earlier.

Police had already arrested former chairman of APSC Rakesh Paul, his two associate members Samedur Rahman, Basanta Doley, Pabitra Koiborta, Nabakanta Patir, three ACS officers Bhaskarjyoti Dev Sharma, Bhaskar Dutta and Amit Sharma.
