Arrest warrant against Nirav Modi in UK: Reports

London, Mar 18 (IBNS): The Westminster Magistrates Court in London has issued an arrest warrant against billionaire diamond merchant Nirav Modi, who is wanted in India in the Rs 13,600 crore PNB scam, media reports said.

The 48-year-old, who is living in London, can be arrested any time after the warrant is issued.

Modi's arrest can enable the start of a trial at the UK court, which can also decide whether to extradite him to India.

After disappearing for several months, a video published by UK newspaper The Telegraph earlier this month showed him walking the streets of London.

According to the report, Nirav Modi has started a new diamond business in Soho, a part of the posh West End area in London.

The Indian authorities, however, said they knew Modi was in the UK and had already started the process of his extradition to India.
