Itanagar/UNI: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday announced the name of Tsering Lhamu, wife of former MLA Jambey Tashi, as its official candidate for the bye-election to Lumla Assembly Constituency in Tawang district of Arunachal Pradesh.

The BJP's central election committee gave its approval on her name, along with that of West Bengal’s Dilip Saha for the Sagardighi Assembly seat, a release from the Saffron party said.

The Lumla seat fell vacant following the death of incumbent BJP MLA Jambey Tashi on November 2 last year.

The bypolls to Lumla Assembly Constituency in Arunachal Pradesh and Sagardighi Assembly seat under Murshidabad district in West Bengal are scheduled to be held on February 27, the results of which will be announced on March 2 next.

Last week, Arunachal Pradesh’s lone regional political outfit, People’s Party of Arunachal (PPA), announced the name of 37-year-old Gaon Burah (village head)-turned-politician Leki Norbu as its candidate for the Lumla Assembly seat.
