New Delhi/UNI: Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Wednesday attacked the UP government for not arresting anyone in connection with the recent incident in Lakhimpur and demanded that the Centre should intervene in the matter.

"It is surprising that no culprit has been arrested so far. Central government should intervene in the matter to ensure that the guilty are arrested and the victims get justice," Gelhot said in a series of tweets in Hindi, in an apparent reference to the Lakhimpur Kheri incident.

He said the struggle of Congress leaders Priyanka Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, and the grand-old party to get justice for the victims and the ''dictatorship'' of the BJP government is being watched by the entire country.

On detention of the Congress general secretary Gandhi on her way to Lakhimpur Kheri on Oct 4, Gehlot said, "UP government had to listen to the voices coming from across the country and Priyanka ji was released after 52 hours of illegal detention."

On Sunday, at least eight people, including four farmers, were killed and several injured after a convoy of three SUVs, one allegedly being driven by the son of Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Ajay Mishra Teni crushed protesters in Lakhimpur Kheri.

The UP government had announced a 'probe' into the incident besides compensation of Rs 45 lakh each to the next of kin of the four farmers.
