Assam: 9 people killed, 20 others injured in accident in Sivasagar

Guwahati: At least 9 people were killed and 20 others sustained injuries after a passenger bus and traveler collided in Assam’s Sivasagar district on Monday.

The incident took place on National Highway – 37 at Demow area in Sivasagar district, where a bus with 40 passengers on board collided with a passenger vehicle coming from opposite direction.

According to the reports, the bus bearing registration number AS 05 C 5999 was moving towards Dibrugarh town from Sivasagar skidded off the road and rammed into a traveller and the traveller vehicle fell into a ditch.

Following the incident, locals and police had rushed to the spot and engaged in rescue operations.

At least nine people were killed and 20 others injured in the incident.

The injured persons have been rushed to nearby hospital.
