Assam CM directs DCs to complete embankment repairing within Mar 31
The DCs will have to take up repairing works on a war footing mode and have to regularly submit update on progress of work to the Government.
The Chief Minister passed the directions to the DCs while interacting with them through video conference on Tuesday.
The Chief Minister further directed the Deputy Commissioners to finish the construction of houses under Prime Minister’s Awas Yojana within Apr 1, 2017.
Further to oversee smooth completion of construction of houses, all districts are required to appoint one Nodal Officer each.
“Being a national programme, all DCs have to take adequate measures for timely completion of construction of houses” Sonowal said.
Expressing concern over slow progress of construction work of PMAY houses, Sonowal further directed the DCs to convene special Block level meetings to find out the defaulters who have not completed the construction of houses inspite of receiving the 1st installment on time.
Similarly, the Chief Minister asked the DCs to release the 1st installment of fund to the beneficiaries immediately whose names have figured in the beneficiary list but fund was not released.
Chief Minister Sonowal also discussed all issues related to land acquisition for national highway construction in the state with the Deputy Commissioners.
He asked the DCs to settle all bottlenecks for speedy construction work.
The PWD (NH) Department was also instructed to immediately relocate all electric posts for stepping up the road construction works.
The Chief Minister also asked the DCs to carryout extensive publicity campaign for promoting less cash and more digital economy in the state in coordination with the Banks.
Sonowal also stressed on the need to generate more awareness amongst the panchayat representatives, farmers, youth and all other section of the society on the digital modes of transaction.
Additional Chief Secretary TY Das, MGVK Bhanu and several other officials of the State Government were present in the Video Conference.
