Guwahati, Sept 2 (IBNS): Heavy rainfall on Sunday morning along with flash floods at Jorabat area, in the outskirts of Guwahati, caused severe water logging in several areas.

The flash floods hit Jorabat area, tri junction of Assam-Meghalaya border, which left National Highway-37 under water.

After the heavy rainfall, streets were laden with mud, roads were turned into river with motorists struggling to cross the inundated area on the highway leading to heavy traffic snarls.

Several locations of Jorabat area were affected by the flash floods following heavy downpour.

On the other hand, the incessant rainfall created havoc in northern Assam’s Biswanath district as flood waters submerged Gohpur town and affected over 10 villages under Gohpur sub-division.

Several roads and houses were damaged due to overflowing water of Chatrang river.

Many villagers have been forced to take shelter in safer places.
