Assam Rifles apprehend ULFA-I, NSCN (IM) militants, recover arms
Guwahati: In a joint operation with Nagaland police, troops of Assam Rifles apprehended a militant of United Liberation Front of Asom – Independent (ULFA-I) and two youths from Assam while they were attempting to join the banned outfit.
According to the reports, the security personnel apprehended the youths from Mon town area in Nagaland’s Mon district.
The Assam Rifles troops and Nagaland police recovered warlike stores in possession from them.
An Assam Rifles official based in Kohima said that they were heading to the ULFA-I caps in Myanmar through the bordering area of Nagaland.
The apprehended youths are hailing from Assam’s Tinsukia district.
Later, the apprehended persons along with recovered items were handed over to Mon police station for further investigation.
In separate operation, Assam Rifles troops in a joint operation with police apprehended a militant of NSCN (IM) in general area Laju village in Tirap district of Arunachal Pradesh.
Based on a specific input, security forces in a joint operation with state police apprehended the NSCN (IM) militant and recovered one point 32 pistol and one point 32 live ammunition at general area Laju village.
The apprehended militant alongwith recovered items were handed over to Laju police station Tirap for further investigation.
On the other hand, security forces in a joint operation with state Police apprehended an OGW of NSCN-K (YA) in general area Longkhao village in Longding district of Arunachal Pradesh and recovered one point 22 Rifle with magazine, four rounds of point 22 ammunition and incriminating documents in possession from him.
