Assam Rifles nabs three Naga militants with arms in Nagaland

Guwahati, Aug 30 (IBNS): Assam Rifles troops have apprehended three Naga militants in Nagaland capital city Kohima.

According to the reports, based on specific information, Kohima battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) conducted an operation in general area Jail Colony, Kohima district along with a police representative of South Police Station, Kohima on Wednesday evening.

During the operation, security personnel apprehended two militants of NSCN-R from the area.

The nabbed militants were identified as self styled Captain Akhe Chokhe, and self styled Second Lieutenant Kesheyi RSakso.

A top official of Assam Rifles said that, during spot questioning, they revealed that they have placed extortion demand to various shopkeepers in Jail colony, Kohima.

Later, they were handed over to South Police Station, Kohima for further investigation.

Earlier, Assam Rifles troops had apprehended a hardcore militant of NSCN-KN and recovered arms and ammunition.

Based on intelligence input, Dimapur battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) launched operation along with a police representative about presence of armed militant of NSCN-KN carrying out extortion in general area Signal Basti, Dimapur and nabbed the militant.

The nabbed militant was identified as I Hojeshe Sumi, Deputy Secretary NSCN-KN.

Security forces recovered one point 32mm pistol, seven live rounds of point 32 mm, 3 live rounds of point 22mm, one fired case of point 32mm, one fired case of point 22mm and 21 SP tablets.
