Assam: Two labourers killed in landslide, three others die of lightning strikes

Guwahati, Apr 5 (IBNS): Two labourers were killed in a landslide, while three others died of lightning strikes in Assam in past 24 hours.

According to the reports, two labourers killed by a landslide at Noonmati area in Guwahati on Wednesday morning.

The labourers, who were engaged by a private school named Icon Academy for cutting earth, were trapped by mud which came down from hill at Bonda area near Noonmati on Wednesday morning.

The landslide triggered by heavy rainfall since couple of days.

Later police and local people had pulled out the bodies of the two labourers from the mud.

The labourers were identified as Rahimuddin and Saifuddin hailing from Alamganj area in lower Assam’s Dhubri district.

On the other hand, at least four people including two women were died in lightning stikes in Hailakandi, Karimganj, Morigaon and Bongaigaon districts.

Meanwhile, over 1000 houses and several properties were damaged due to hailstorm, thunderstorm and heavy rains in the state.
