Bihar: Maoists set aflame two vehicles of private company

Gaya, May 15 (UNI) Dreaded Maoists opened fire and torched two vehicles of a private road construction company after the company management refused to meet their demand of extortion near Sankhwa village under Barachatti police station area in Gaya district late last night.

Police said here today that around 15 to 20 extremists of outlawed CPI (Maoist) attacked the company, engaged in the construction of a road near Sabalpur petrol pump and set aflame a poclain and also a tractor.

Police said that Maoists opened fire in air to scare people before attacking the site of private company. On the receipt of information about the incident, officers of district police and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) reached the spot and investigated the matter. Maoists might have indulged in the unlawful activity after they were denied payment of extortion by the road construction company.
