Bihar police arrest senior Congress leader on fraud charges

Patna, Sept 22 (The Bihar Post/IBNS): Police in Bihar arrested a senior Congress leader on charges of fraud.

Anil Sulabh, who currently happens to be the state Congress (Intellectual Cell) president, was accused of admitting students to the Indian Institute of Health Education and Research Centre by keeping the students in the dark.

His arrest followed a ruckus at the institute campus located near Beur jail, on Wednesday, by hundreds of students who accused the director of not conducting examinations and irregularities prevalent there.

During the course of inquiry, the police found the institute was taking admission even though it had no affiliation.

The institute had opened for admission courses like Bachelor in Medical Lab Technology and Bachelor in Physiotherapy.

“Anil Sulabh has been arrested on the allegation of duping hundreds of students,” Patna’s senior superintendent of police Manu Maharaj told the media on Thursday.

The police have also arrested his son while a case has been registered against his wife and other Trust members. The police have also sealed the institute office, reports said.

Sulabh claimed his institute was not at fault and blamed the Magadh University and Raj Bhawan for the prevailing situation.
