Bihar registers case against official 25 years after allegations of corruption
Patna, Dec 30 (The Bihar Post/ IBNS): Authorities in Bihar have registered a case against an official well 25 years after he was charged with defalcation of funds.
The matter pertains to construction of an indoor stadium in the premises of a government girls’ school at Chapra town in Saran district.
As per reports, the construction of the stadium was in full swing in 1993 when its walls didn’t sustain the power of storms and collapsed, bringing the construction works to a stop.
The then district magistrate ordered an inquiry into the matter through vigilance department but the matter kept on gathering dust for years.
Recently, a local lawmaker Dr Birendra Narayan Yadav raised the issue in the House and it was only then that the matter picked up momentum.
Subsequently, the local commissioner formed an inquiry commission and then ordered for action against the culprit.
It was in the light of the order that the case could finally registered with the local Bhagwanpur Bazar police station by the district project officer Vijay Kumar on Friday.
Then executive engineer Chitranjan Prasad Sinha has been named the main accused in the case.
“We have registered the case and investigation is on,” a local police official Deo Kumar told the media on Saturday.
